Flights to China: Route and Booking Checks

Read the airport code on every segment

A city name can hide an expensive transfer. Beijing Capital is PEK and Beijing Daxing is PKX. Shanghai Pudong is PVG and Shanghai Hongqiao is SHA. Compare the arrival and departure codes on connecting flights, then check the current terminal in the airline’s booking.

Compare a connection as a complete itinerary

Before buying separate tickets, ask what happens if the first flight is delayed. Check whether baggage is checked through, whether you must collect it and check in again, and whether the airport or terminal changes. Do not assume that flights shown together in a search result form one protected connection.

Entry or transit permission is a separate check. Confirm it for your passport, route, travel purpose and date using the relevant official authority and the airline. A convenient transfer time or a paid ticket does not itself establish eligibility to enter mainland China.

Compare the same fare product

A cheap headline fare can become a different product after luggage or change flexibility is added. Compare the final confirmation screens in the same currency and check your issuer’s separate foreign-transaction terms.

Check the passenger and contact information

Enter names and travel-document details according to the airline and booking provider’s instructions. Resolve unusual names, transliteration or document questions with the provider before paying. Confirm that you can access the email or phone number used for schedule notices and payment verification during your trip.

After purchase, distinguish an accepted order from an issued ticket. Retain the provider’s confirmation, airline booking reference where supplied and support route. Recheck the airline’s current flight status before departure. Keep sensitive booking credentials out of public screenshots.

Plan the airport transfer before the flight day

Save your hotel’s Chinese name, branch and address offline. Compare operating hours, luggage handling and the last mile for airport rail, buses, official taxis or an app-booked car. If arriving late, keep a second viable option. For an intercity leg, compare rail with flying over the whole door-to-door journey.
