Zhujiajiao is a canal town in Shanghai’s Qingpu District that can be reached on Metro Line 17. The most reliable day trip is simple: arrive in the morning, walk from the old lanes toward Fangsheng Bridge, take a boat only after confirming its current route and fare, and leave a buffer for the metro journey back. The streets and waterways are the main experience; individual gardens, galleries and boat products have separate arrangements.

Take Line 17, then choose the last connection on arrival

From the station, travellers can walk, use local road transport, or take the official electric-boat shuttle when it is operating. Zhujiajiao’s tourism site lists a station-to-scenic-area electric boat from the Line 17 wharf, and a September 2025 notice says service to the Fangsheng Bridge wharf had resumed after restoration work. Check the official boat page for the latest status rather than assuming the shuttle runs in poor weather or outside its sales period.

Keep the return route in mind. Metro operations, boat services and local traffic do not share one closing time. Check the current last train before entering the old town, especially if staying for evening light.

Walk one connected route through the old town

Start with the lanes and waterways rather than trying to enter every named attraction. A coherent route can link the station-side approach, North Street, canal viewpoints and Fangsheng Bridge. The page associated the CNY 200 products with about 15 minutes and CNY 300 products with about 20 minutes. It listed an additional CNY 100 to return to the departure wharf and ticket sales from 08:30 to 17:00. The station shuttle was listed at CNY 40 per person with first and last departures at 08:30 and 17:00.

These are volatile operating details. Route names, wharves, water levels, weather, capacity and fares can change. Confirm the price is per boat or per person, the end wharf, one-way versus return status, and the day’s suspension policy before paying. A hand-rowed sightseeing boat and the station shuttle serve different purposes.

Do not infer that an old online “town ticket” includes the boat. Individual gardens, galleries or cultural venues may sell their own admissions or a current combination product.
